If you went to Tran High School and asked about Kan Raven Hillhorse. They would not say much about him. Some would say that he was Emo. Some would say that he was Gothic. Others would say that he was good at phys ed. Nothing much was known about him. All they knew was that he was Native American. That he wore black all the time and a black with a red strip across the middle head band. Lastly that he was amazing at sports and gymnastics. But the truth about Kan R. was that he was an assassin. Working for the Nonmigratory Assassin Unit. N.A.U. This is Kan’s story.

ASSASSIN’S TURNING

Chapter 1

Kan walked silently through the busy hallways of Tran High School. His long shiny black hair tied back in a pony tail. Odd green eyes seeing every detail. It was Gym time. Mentally he sighed, why did he have to live with amateurs? They made life so complicated! Them with their stupid little minds, thinking only of them selves. Not even knowing that the world was different then they actually thought! Ha! They thought the world was “normal”. Kan grimmest. No the world was not normal. It had been once. Before the Neutrals came. They had changed every thing they were a higher race that made mankind look like ants. The Neutrals had let scientists do human experimenters. They had allowed the mutants and other creatures run around. Then they had set the police on them. Killing them till the bent to the Neutrals will. Kan was one of them. He was one of the few creatures that had been born a animal shape shifter. Not created in some lab. Born. Of course his mother had died. But he had lived and now working for an assassin association. For the people who wanted people dead. But only the Royals, Neutrals and Quigains could do that.

Kan!”

Kan turned at the sound of Gill’s voice.

Hey man! Quit daydreaming! Gym soon!” Gil laughed at Kan and ran off. A growl leaped from Kan’s throat before he could stop it. Gill was an obnoxious twit who loved annoying people. Plus to make things worse. Gill was in the Thief Nonmigratory Guild. (T.N.G.) And knew all about the Shifters and mutants. He was a mutant him self. Gil could breath under water and do all sorts of things. Kan called him “Fishy.” And Gill called Kan “Wolf breath.” Thieves and the Assassins had been fighting for years.

Kan was in the boys change room in the High School before he knew it. As usual he went into the change “closet.” He hated boys looking at his scars on his back. Quickly changing into his black long sleeved shirt and black skinny jeans he slipped into the gymnasium. Coach Black-heart was waiting.

Coach was a tall man, brown hair and eyes. And build out of bricks. He was tough stuff. No one messed with coach Black-heart and his cousins Coach Meatloaf and Coach BullsArse. No one talked back not even girls. They were trained to be healthy, agile, and strong. A hole 5 months was spent just in the weight room. Then from February on was sports and dancing lessons. Lucky for Kan Soccer was the sport this month. Kan was good at soccer.

Alright naggers!” Boomed Black-heart.

Time for attendance! Anyone not here in 3 seconds is going to be absent AND WALKING WITH A MINUS 50 ON their REPORT CARD!!!”

ONE!” Boomed Coach Meatloaf. Looking at his nails, as the teens scrabbled to their spots on the blue line on the edge of the court.

TWO!” yelled Coach BullsArse.

THREE!” Black-heart began yelling off names.

Anderson?”

Here!”

Ail?”

Here?”

Bill?”

Here.”

Bakk?”

Here!”

Careson?”

Here!”
“No Clamedous?”

No sir he’s sick his mum told me to give you this Sir.” Careson Mullion Handed a folded note to the big man.

Good. Dani?”

Here!”

And down the line till the voice said.

Hillhorse?”

Kan looked up, he was in his usual stance. Arms folded looking at the ground. All his weight on his left leg. Kan looked into the Brown eyes. Silent and defiant, but he spoke respectfully to the man.

You wanted me?”

Just making sure you were here.” Black-heart muttered. Ever since Kan had broken Black-heart’s arm 4 years ago; because Black-heart had hurt a grade 5 student just because she had talked back to him. Black-heart had a sudden respect for Kan. Black-heart also knew that deep down. Kan was a born killer and could get really mad if he wanted too. Then he was a killing machine.

Coach Meatloaf and Coach BullsArse were very careful around Kan too. After Attendance there was the 2 minuted jog, stretchering and lastly the 10 minute run around the small town. After water break soccer began and ended with Kan’s team the Black Rats winning 10-5. (The Coaches named the teams. Each time it was different.) Verses Gill’s team. Blue Butts. (Coach BullsArse always named Gill’s team.) Gill and Kan were never on the same team ever since they nearly killed each other when they were in grade 2.

Gym over. The school day was over, Kan walked wearily to the showers.

Nice game Wolf breath. I could of won but those idiots were making me lag.” Gill Bragged. Kan stared at him. Fighting every urge not to punch Gill in the face. Thus making a dent in that annoying……….. stuiped……….. little…. face…….

Back off Fishy.” Kan marched into the showers welcoming the silence.

Kan loved silence. Noise annoyed him. The bell rang a few minutes later letting the school know that it was home time. Sighing Kan finished up and got into his comforting black T-shirt and hooded sweater. The silky black pants made him feel complete. He walked out like a shadow up to his locker for his gear and hurried out into the rainy day.

(I Luv Kan…. Note Kan is pronounced. Kawn)

Kan walked down the streets of Tran. A small town next to a big city, was the summery. Kan ignored the people near him. And walked like a shadow towards the the end of town. Where a tall, brown apartment building stood afar from the other buildings. This was the Assassin’s House for, duh, Assassins. (The Thieves had one too. But it was 30km away and they had to take a bus.) Kan opened the big glass doors, and held up a card to a scanner in the wall. The card plainly stated: “The Silencer.” Kan’s Assassin nick name. A little “Bling. Came from the doors and they opened into a big red carpeted lobby. There was no front deask. The main floor was held the mess hall and gaming room. Plus the small Gym were you could keep in practice. On the Left side of the main floor, the rooms for married couples were.

Just in case; one of the rules at the A.ap.* (Assassin’s Apartment. Haw haw.) Was that Girls stayed with Girls And guys stayed with Guys. The girls lived on the 2nd to 4th floors. Guys lived on the 5th to 7th floors. No one allowed on opposite sexes floors. BUT younger assassins of the 1st to 7th degrees some times had to be reminded of these things, by the 9th and 50th Degrees. For the main reason that the girls until they got to their 6th degrees they did not know what to do to protect them selves against fellow assassins. Kan was a 40th Degree Assassin, having killed over 400 people since he first killed; when he was 7.

So Kan walked into the elevator. Pressing the button to go up. The doors opened and he walked into the small brown room. And pressed the 7th floor button. No music played, this is assassins we’re talking about. Kan slouched against the wall head down, arms folded the usual stance. At floor 4 the elevator stopped and a pretty brown haired girl probaly in the 3rd degree enterd. She pressed the 1 button and sat on the floor. The elevator continued up. Stopping again on the 5th floor for abunch of 6th degrees. The elevator was now crowded. But they stayed away from Kan. But took an interest in the small girl Who was forced to stand.

Hey your looking good!” One boy said leaning against the wall next to her. The girl blushed.

Back off Taejon! She’s mine!” A slightly older looking boy pushed the other away.

Aw Matt!” Taejon began. Kan looked at the boy maat by olny turning his eyes. “She’s mine.” was a code word for: “ I’m the one who gets to mess around with her not you.” The girl had stiffedend. One chance boy. Thought Kan. You know I’m here but you don’t know what I’m going to do. Kan smelt fear on the girl and confidence on Matt. He touched her chest. Too late. Kan struck out like lightning. Matt crashed inot the other boys who all crashed to the left side of the elevator. Causing a boom to sound. Kan was in front of the girl. Glaring at the boys.

Touch her again.” Kan’s voice was quiet and had ice on every word.

And your Dead got it?”

Who do you think you are!?” Demanded Matt getting to his feet. You’ve played the wrong card Bastered. We 10th degrees and up can’t kill lower class men. But we can scar. Kan was suddenly behind Matt knife at his throat.

I’m..” Hissed Kan.

YOUR WORST NIGHT MARE. The Silencer!” The boys a few feet away gasped. The Silencer was a legend to them. Kan put his knife on Matt’s sweating cheek. “This is just a friendly reminder to you. Matt. That I’ve just spared you life. I wont do it again. I’m part of the Look out’s I am. And the look outs Look for guys like you and teach them a lesson. SO here is yours.”

The knife raked down slicing Matt’s cheek open as if it was warm butter. Kan took the blade away and the doors opened to the 7th floor.
