Wolf-Boy Chapter 5

Chapter 5

The Week With the Best Friday and Saturday Ever

That night Aurora drew her friends and her only Enemy. Tuesday slunk passed, taking its’ time. Wednesday flew past, and Thursday was like a water fall. Finally it was Friday.

You know what? We should totally go hang out this weekend!” Emily suggested.

Yeah! Let’s!” John cried excitedly.

Saturday afternoon then?” Chris asked.

We are free.” Raven said.

I am too.” James said.

Aurora?” He added.

I’ll have to ask my dad.”

In the mean while Aurora, me and Emily wanted you to come shopping with us, so that you know about the best shops in town!”

I’ll ask my Dad.”

What will we do on Saturday?” John asked.

We will just hang out! At the mall of coarse. Look at the stores that only open on Saturday! Maybe we can watch a movie.” Emily answered.

Sure sounds like Fun!” Crow added.

‘Were will we meet?” Raven asked.

Do you all know ‘Raging Stuff of Horror?’” Emily asked back.

EVERY one knows that place. That place does not even have scary stuff!” came the reply.

That’s were we will meet. At 2:00 pm.”

BRIIIIIIIING!

That evening Aurora was making supper before Jack came home. He was just coming in the door when the cry of ‘Dinner!’ reached his ears.

I came home at the right time!” He laughed and got to the table. Aurora had set the table and dished out the spaghetti with sauce. They were half way though the meal wen Aurora spoke up.

Dad?”

Yes?”

Umm, Leann and Emily want me to go shopping with them. To show me the best shops. Their coming to pick me up a 7:00 if you say yes. When they come I’ll go.”

Jack thought about this.

Sure. Be safe though and be home at 10:00.”

Thanks.”

Jack knew that there was some thing else on his daughters mind.

All right, I know there’s more. What is it?”

Umm, on Saturday the kids also want me to go and hang out with them.

Jack raised and eyebrow.

Oh? What KIDS?”

Emily, Leann and me and some other…Guys.”

How many boys?”

5.”

8 Kids????”

Yup.”

WHICH BOYS?!?”

No need to shout dad. Just Chris,John,Raven,Crow and James.”

Jack sighed with relief those boys were good kids they had never got onto the criminal records. Plus three Native boys.

I must be going soft. You can go BUT you will be home by 10:00. Understand?”

Yes sir! Thanks Dada!!!”

After the meal Aurora did the dishes and went to her room. She was just finished getting ready to go wen the doorbell rang. Ding-dong, ding-dong.

Coming!” She shouted, but Jack got there first.

Hello, Emily is it?”

Yes sir.” Emily replied. Jack Deepwater was a man you always called Sir.

She will be down in a moment. Do come in.” He invited. Emily entered. Aurora was down the stair in a flash. Her long hair was in a braid. She was wearing a shirt with a wolf on it that Aurora had made herself. Also her thighs were covered with boot. You could not see the jeans that she was wearing.

Ready!” Aurora cried cheerfully.

Nice BOOTS!” Emily stared at them.

Thanks! Bye Dada!” Aurora kissed her father goodbye and left for her first trip shopping in Oceanview. It was fun Aurora had gone to the mall with her friends. They had a blast, the girls had gone to the most exotic dress and clothes shops ever. All though there was one or two they could not go to for they were closed. Aurora had not bought anything yet. But Emily and Leann had got 2 things between them. They had just gone out side wen Aurora saw a old rickety shop at the end of the mall. It was made of wood, an old painted sign said;

The Black Bear’s Flight On Wings

What’s that store?” Asked Aurora.

Oh, some old native man owns it. No one ever goes there any more. Some tourists go there though.”

Aurora then recognized the words on the sign. They were part of an old saying that her grandmother used to say.

I’m going to have a look.” Aurora sped away with the other girls trailing behind. Aurora opened the door. It was beautiful.

The inside was in parts, There was the front desk with a middle aged native lady reading a magazine. Every thing else was covered in postcards, old drawings, and painting of places and people. Leather shirts and pants-even dresses!- hung on racks. Eagle feathers and other feathers were on display. Old native head dresses, and other special things were everywhere in neat and tidy piles. Aurora looked at the woman, who had just noticed her. Aurora her friends watching her put her right hand in front of her face, closed her pinky, ring and middle fingers. Put her thumb on her nose and bowed in a respectful manner. And spoke in Deepwater.

Peace to you and long life to all who dwell in this home.”

It was an old and very respectful saying. The woman gasped and answered her in the same language.

You know of the Deepwater tongue? “

Yes, wise one, my grandmother was of the clan.”

Father!” The woman shouted. An old and very wrinkled native man came out from behind a curtain. He stopped and stared at Aurora.

Now I KNOW that I am getting mad!” He cried in shock.

(Still in Deepwater tongue.)

For it is White-storm! Standing there!” The old mad sank to his knees.

Nay, Old wise one I am not her.” Aurora clasped the mans hand.

But I am her granddaughter. Her blood runs in my veins. I am Aurora Deepcreek. My father is her son.”

The old man stared at her.

Granddaughter of White-storm?”

Yes, Wise one. She taught me the tongue of Deepwater.”

I am Bowfeather, wen I was once young I among many other braves. Seeking to marry your grandmother. But I left when she married the white man.”

‘You were the first one to go.” Aurora remembered.

Yes I was. Then I traveled here and met Whitewater’s mother. But she died years ago. But I have never forgotten your grandmother, is she still alive?”

No, the White plague got her.” Aurora spoke sadly.

Oh…It took my wife too.” Bowfeather replied. Aurora turned to look at her friends and giggled. They were staring at her with there mouths hanging open.

Emily, Leann, this is Bowfeather and Whitewater. Bowfeather knew my grandmother. Bowfeather, this my friends, Emily and Leann.” Introduced Aurora in English.

Hi.” Leann said shyly.

Bowfeather grinned.

In our tongue Leann means Shining Friend. Emily Means Good Worker.” He informed them. The two girls blushed.

Come! I shall show you my wears.’ Bowfeather lead them on a tour of the place. It was all very fascinating. But nothing was compared to the jewelry section.

Oh WOW!!! YOU MAKE THESE YOURSELF???” Emily gasped.

They were hand made glorious necklaces. Bracelets,Earrings and anklets, Beads and precious stones hung from them.

The silver I find in a run down silver mine that I found years ago. I mine it and refine it my self. I make all the designs to. The stones I find all the time I have a good eye for such things. I make the beads as well.” Bowfeather explained.

Emily bought several necklaces and a anklet. As did Leann, and both promised to tell their friends all about the place. Aurora wanted to speak privately to the old man so she told her friends that she would see them at the car. Wen they were gone she said.

I knew you were people from the Deepwater clan because of the sign. For was it not once said of old to people. “I’ll believe you when the black bear takes flight on the wings of an eagle”?”

Bowfeather laughed.

Indeed child. I see that you have a liking for wolfs.”

Yes I draw them all the time.” Aurora sheepishly pulled a folded peace of paper out of her pocket. Handing it to Bowfeather. He opened it and stared.

You have a good hand indeed. May I sell this?”

Sure it is for you I have a hundred and one of these. I don’t really have any use for them.”

My thanks. Would you like any thing here?” He asked her as he handed the drawing to his daughter.

That wolf necklace and that emerald anklet please.”

as she paid for them Whitewater said.

This is for you.” It was a large paper bag and in it was a leather dress.

It is a copy of your grandmother’s ceremonial dress. Father says to give it to you as heir to her.”

‘Thanks! Sleep well tonight!” Aurora went to her friends in happiness.

She got home. It was dark but warm. Aurora slept well thinking of her life and how lucky she was to have friends.
